What's a "Hybrid" Summer Music Camp?

We have always eagerly awaited summers and our music camps as a time for young musicians to come together and create, play and socialize with others. Our Learn to Play Ukulele Camps, Guitar Camps, Songwriting Camps and Band Camps have always been fun and popular ways to encourage and develop creative self expression at Ballantyne School of Music these past 9 summers!  But, due to the current environment, today's camps need to be different.

We are currently living in a world where many families are choosing to continue to stay home, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.  In March of this year, we took over 400 students online for their private music lessons, while we stayed safely at home to slow the spread.  Parents and students actually loved the virtual lesson experience, and some have chosen to continue for health reasons, flexibility when traveling, or simply for the convenience of learning from home, even though businesses are reopening.

Although we do believe that in-person lessons and camps are best and most effective, we are excited to be able to accommodate all families this summer - especially those who are traveling!  Our "Hybrid" Summer Music Camps provide families with the option of attending in person, virtually via Zoom, or a combination of both!

In July, we will be offering three Hybrid Summer Music Camps:  Learn to Play Ukulele, Learn to Play Guitar, and Intro to Songwriting.  We will also begin our brand new weekly Virtual Guitar Club.  Be sure to check out descriptions of our camps, to see which one would be the perfect fit for your budding musician!

We look forward to seeing our summer campers - both online and in person - very soon!  Yay, Summer!

Students must have their own guitar and tuner as well as access to Zoom on a computer or other device, to participate.  Zoom ID and password will be sent, when student registers, and will be used each week to access the classroom.
